The Cubs released Espinal on Aug. 13.
Espinal made his big-league debut out of the Boston bullpen in 2021, but he'll exit the Cubs organization without having ever reached the majors. After being acquired from the Giants in July, Espinal made only two appearances at Triple-A Iowa before the Cubs elected to move on from him.
