Ramirez is dealing with shoulder soreness again and is not in the lineup Friday for the second straight day, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.
It appeared that Ramirez was getting a simple day off Thursday when he was not in Boston's lineup, but it appears he is actually dealing with the recurring shoulder soreness that has bothered him frequently this year. It's not clear if Ramirez will miss further action beyond Friday's contest, but with the Red Sox a virtual lock to make the postseason, don't expect them to take any chances with Ramirez's health.
