Rutledge (illness) entered Sunday's 7-3 win over the Orioles in the eighth inning as a defensive replacement.
Rutledge had been scratched from Saturday's game due to dehydration, and manager John Farrell didn't want to push him with full-time duty Sunday. As such, Rutledge was available for limited duty and entered the game as a defensive replacement for Pablo Sandoval, whose defense was particularly calamitous. Rutledge's appearance suggests he'll be ready to go Tuesday in New York against the Yankees.
