With Barnes out of options, the Rockies were forced to DFA him instead of optioning him to the minor leagues, while David Dahl was recalled in a corresponding move. Barnes has been awful over the past 20 games, hitting .128/.150/.205 with no home runs, three RBI and one run scored.
