Contreras cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday.
Contreras was recently designated for assignment by the Twins but is poised to stay in the organization. The 27-year-old made his big-league debut in 2022 and had a .121/.148/.293 slash line and 34.4 percent strikeout rate in 61 plate appearances.
