Contreras was released by the Twins on Thursday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
Contreras is 28 years old and has logged only 61 career major-league plate appearances, but he was sporting a decent .775 OPS with 10 homers and 23 steals through 89 games this season at the Triple-A level. The outfielder should be able to latch on with another organization.
