Schmidt (lat) is scheduled to be activated from the 60-day injured list to start Saturday against the Cubs, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
The 28-year-old has been sidelined since late May due to a lat strain but is ready to rejoin the Yankees' rotation after three minor-league rehab starts. Schmidt threw 70 pitches across 4.2 innings during his final rehab outing Monday, so he'll likely have some workload limitations in his first start back in the big leagues. It appears the Yankees will be utilizing a six-man rotation with Luis Gil (back) also making his return from the injured list Friday.
