Padres' Ty France: Reinstated from paternity leave

The Padres activated France from the paternity leave list Monday.

France was away for the entirety of the Padres' series in San Francisco this past weekend, but he will be back in action Monday as the Padres open a series in Colorado. Braves' Matt Olson: Belts late homer Sunday

Olson went 3-for-5 with an RBI single and a two-run home run during Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Phillies.

Olson tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single in the seventh, and after the Phillies scored seven runs in the eighth, he made the score look a little more respectable with a two-run blast in the ninth. Olson is up to 39 home runs on the season, and one more long ball would mark the second time in his major-league career that he's hit at least 40 homers in a campaign. He has an .831 OPS with four steals and 85 RBI across 650 plate appearances this season.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Won't be in Monday's lineup

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters after Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Marlins that Freeman (knee) will be out of the lineup for Monday's series opener against the Reds, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Freeman went 0-for-8 with a strikeout across his last two games, and he hasn't been himself at the plate as he works through a lingering right knee injury. The veteran first baseman may sit out additional games over the final two weeks of the regular season in order to be in better shape for the playoffs. Enrique Hernandez figures to see the bulk of the reps at first base in games that Freeman doesn't play in.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Undergoing surgery Tuesday

Devers (abdomen) will undergo season-ending surgery Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Devers was placed on the 60-day injured list Sunday due to a core muscle injury, something that has reportedly bothered the 29-year-old slugger for a number of years, and the Giants should have an update on his recovery timeline following Tuesday's surgery. Devers will finish the 2026 regular season with an .865 OPS with 37 home runs and 98 RBI across 633 plate appearances.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Lands on 60-day IL

The Giants placed Devers on the 60-day injured list Sunday due to a core muscle injury.

The veteran slugger has apparently been playing through the injury for much of the season, per Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News, and he won't push through it further and is now scheduled to be evaluated more in-depth Monday. The injury didn't appear to affect Devers' production, as he rebounded from a slow start to finish the year with 37 homers, 98 RBI, 88 runs and an .865 OPS in 148 games.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Launches another homer Saturday

Devers went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-6 loss to San Diego.

After hitting a grand slam in Friday's loss to the Padres, the veteran infielder launched a two-run homer off Michael King in the first inning. Devers has racked up eight home runs over his last 11 games, slashing .341/.471/1.024 with 20 RBI and 11 runs scored in 51 plate appearances during that span. Most of that damage came during the team's homestand ending Sept. 6, but he is still hitting .406 with four RBI, six runs, three doubles, a triple and a home run across his last eight contests. Rumfield is wrapping up a solid rookie season, as he's maintained a 124 wRC+ across 583 plate appearances.

Busch went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Pirates.

The first baseman now has two long balls in 11 games this month to go along with a .745 OPS. Overall, Busch has a .741 OPS, which is a step back from the career-best .866 OPS he registered during his 2025 breakout campaign, when he also launched 34 home runs in the regular season.

Smith had his contract was selected from Triple-A Reno on Saturday, and was immediately inserted back into the lineup. His third-inning single knocked in the Diamondbacks' first run and was his lone plate appearance, as Ildemaro Vargas pinch hit for him in the fifth inning against left-hander Robert Garcia. Smith could get regular turns as a DH against righties, against whom Arizona ranks next-to-last in the league with a .684 OPS.
