  • Giants' Marcelo Mayer: Coming off IL on Monday

The Giants activated Mayer (forearm/foot) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Mayer has not played in the majors since late June, when he suffered a left forearm stress reaction while still in the Red Sox organization. He was also forced to slow his rehab due to a bone bruise in his right foot, but the infielder seems to have put both injuries in the rear-view mirror and will make his Giants debut at designated hitter Monday. Mayer has slashed .223/.278/.346 in 114 contests thus far at the big-league level.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Goes yard in Sunday's win

Edman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Giants.

Edman got the Dodgers on the board with a solo shot in the sixth inning. It marked the utility man's first homer since Sept. 5, as he went just 4-for-43 (.093) in 13 games during the dry spell. In 92 contests this season, Edman is slashing .245/.328/.376 with seven homers, 38 RBI, 41 runs and six stolen bases.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Powers up Sunday

Cronenworth went 3-for-4 with two home runs, one double, five RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Marlins.

Cronenworth hasn't displayed much power overall this year, but he tapped into some Sunday. He has gone 16-for-40 (.400) during his 10-game hitting streak, adding nine RBI in that span. For the season, the veteran infielder is batting .229 with a .637 OPS, seven homers, 36 RBI, 45 runs scored, 12 doubles, one triple and nine stolen bases over 103 contests. He is still likely to fall short of the 10-homer mark for the first time since his rookie year in the shortened 2020 campaign.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: On bench Sunday

Edwards (thumb) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Edwards departed Saturday's game due to discomfort in his left thumb, which was initially checked out after he hit a foul ball. The 27-year-old returned from the injured list last weekend after missing two weeks due to a sprain in the same thumb, so he may have aggravated the injury. Javier Sanoja will shift to second base while Graham Pauley starts at the hot corner.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Pirates' Brandon Lowe: Hits clutch homer in win

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Royals.

Lowe hit what proved to be the game-winning blast in the bottom of the eighth inning. It continued a strong run by the 32-year-old, who's hit safely in 10 of his past 11 games while going deep in four of his last five. For the year, he leads all second basemen with 33 long balls while slashing .262/.332/.494 with 93 RBI, 92 runs scored and two steals across 630 plate appearances.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Two steals in Saturday's win

Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a walk, one RBI, two stolen bases and one run scored in Saturday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Marlins.

Cronenworth has hit safely in nine straight games, going 13-for-36 (.361) in that span. He has just one extra-base hit, a triple, during the streak. The infielder is now batting .223 with a .608 OPS, five home runs, nine steals, 31 RBI, 42 runs scored, 11 doubles and a triple over 102 contests this season.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Leaves early Saturday

Edwards left Saturday's game against the Padres in the seventh inning with left thumb discomfort, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Edwards was checked out by a trainer after a foul ball during his plate appearance in the top of the seventh, and while he stayed in the game initially, the second baseman was replaced on defense the next half-inning. He just recently returned from a left thumb sprain, and De Nicola speculates Edwards might have aggravated that injury.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Getting rest Saturday

Turang isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Baltimore.

The Brewers will load their lineup with mostly right-handed bats Saturday against lefty starter Trevor Rogers, so the lefty-swinging Turang will move to the bench to begin the game.

  • Connor Norby 2B | COL

Rockies' Connor Norby: Strong September continues

Norby went 3-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored Friday against the Mariners.

Norby continues to hit the ball well, as Friday's performance extended his hitting streak to six games. In that span, he's gone 11-for-25 with four doubles, four RBI, two stolen bases and four runs scored. Norby is making the case to stick with the Rockies or another big-league club in 2027 by maintaining a .309 average with 16 RBI and 18 runs scored across 33 games since joining Colorado.

  • Nate Furman 2B | SF

Giants' Nate Furman: Placed on injured list

The Giants placed Furman on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a right oblique strain, retroactive to Wednesday.

Furman will be eligible to return from the IL for San Francisco's final two regular-season games, but with the Giants out of the race for a wild-card spot, they likely won't be in a rush to bring him back. Victor Bericoto (knee) was activated from the injured list to take Furman's place on the 28-man roster.
