McLain started at second base and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 4-0 loss to the Dodgers.

McLain, who will attempt to finish a trying season on a positive note, is batting just .129 (4-for-31) this month and .186 for the season.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Doubles twice in loss
Marte went 2-for-6 with two doubles and an RBI in Tuesday's 4-2 extra-innings loss to the Marlins.
Marte drove home the designated runner in the bottom of the 11th inning after Miami scored three times in the top of the frame. Marte's hit safely in 12 of 13 games since returning from the injured list, going 14-for-54 with six doubles, one home run, seven RBI and six runs scored.

Luis Arraez 2B | PHI
Phillies' Luis Arraez: Rips pair of doubles in loss
Arraez went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Nationals.
The light-hitting infielder tallied a rare showing of multiple extra-base hits, his first such effort since June 30 in Arizona as a member of the Giants. Arraez is targeting his fourth career batting title in 2026, jockeying primarily with Nick Gonzales, Otto Lopez and Gabriel Moreno in the race for the National League crown at this stage of the season. He's hitting an MLB-best .315 in 143 games on the year, and Arraez is batting .291 with two homers, nine doubles, 17 RBI and 14 runs scored over 148 at-bats since being dealt to the Phillies.

Connor Norby 2B | COL
Rockies' Connor Norby: Resting Tuesday
Norby isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Matt McLain 2B | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: Back in Cincinnati lineup
McLain (shoulder) will start at second base and bat seventh in Tuesday's game versus the Dodgers.
McLain missed the past three contests with a sore left shoulder, which is the same one he had surgically repaired in 2024. He could have to play through some nagging soreness down the stretch, but McLain feels well enough to give it a go Tuesday.
-
Juan Brito 2B | CIN
Reds' Juan Brito: Makes third straight start
Brito started at second base and went 1-for-3 in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Dodgers.
Brito filled in at second base for a third consecutive game as Matt McLain (shoulder) remained sidelined. The latest word on McLain, per MLB.com, is that he's improving and will not undergo imaging at this time. Brito has hit safely in all three starts, going 5-for-11 with one double, one home run and three RBI.

Connor Norby 2B | COL
Rockies' Connor Norby: Pair of doubles Monday
Norby went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in Monday's 8-7 loss to the Padres.
Norby notched a pair of doubles, driving in multiple runs for the first time since Aug. 26. In 30 games since joining the Rockies, the 26-year-old is hitting .293/.381/.475 with three homers, 14 RBI, 16 runs and two stolen bases. Factoring in his poor showing with the Marlins earlier in the season, Norby's overall marks sit at .234/.335/.375 with seven homers, 30 RBI, 33 runs and eight stolen bases in 95 total contests.

Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Scores twice in win
Hoerner went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 7-3 win over Atlanta.
Hoerner has been good this month with a .296 batting average across 13 September contests, though he hasn't stolen a base since Aug. 28, which is generally how he derives much of his fantasy value. The 29-year-old infielder has also had to adjust to playing shortstop recently, as he's been filling in for Dansby Swanson (oblique) since the middle of August. Swanson is expected back from the injured list toward the end of the week, which should push Hoerner back to second base. He'll remain a contact-oriented hitter who can contribute runs and steals but little power.

Miguel Rojas 2B | LAD
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: In lineup Monday
Rojas (shoulder) will start at second base and bat sixth in Monday's contest versus the Reds.
Rojas aggravated an old right shoulder injury on a dive during Sunday's game against the Marlins. However, he is back in action a day later and will attempt to play through the issue.
