  • Paul DeJong 3B | WAS

Nationals' Paul DeJong: Sitting against southpaw

DeJong is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Yankees.

DeJong had started six straight games against left-handed pitching, but he'll take a seat Wednesday as the Yankees send southpaw Max Fried to the bump. Luis Garcia will post at second base as the Nationals try to avoid being swept.

  • Kyle Karros 3B | COL

Rockies' Kyle Karros: Hitting well since return

Karros went 2-for-4 with two runs scored Tuesday against the Astros.

Karros was briefly sidelined with a back injury but returned to the lineup Friday and has started four straight games since -- all of which have come on the road. He's gone 5-for-13 while hitting primarily in the bottom third of the lineup.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Swats two-run homer

Gorman went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.

Gorman had one of just three hits for the Cardinals on the evening. Gorman's now driven in four runs over his last three games and has hit safely in five straight while reaching base safely 10 times over that span, registering a 4:4 BB:K.

  • Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Makes first start in CF

Marte started in center field and went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Marte, who transitioned from third base to right field midseason, made his first career start in the center field. Unfortunately for the Reds, it showed in the sixth inning when Marte misjudged a flyball that sailed over his head for a two-run double. He was later moved to right field, which has been his home on the diamond for the last month.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Homer, steal in win

Chapman went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.

Chapman has gone 2-for-10 with a pair of extra-base hits and two steals since returning from a bout of hand inflammation. The third baseman hadn't homered since he went yard twice versus the Mets on July 27. Chapman is slashing .228/.339/.428 with 17 homers, 46 RBI, 56 runs scored and nine stolen bases through 99 contests this season.

  • Brock Wilken 3B | MIL

Brewers' Brock Wilken: Activated from Double-A IL

Double-A Biloxi activated Wilken (knee) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Wilken has been sidelined since late June with a dislocated left kneecap, which he sustained during the celebration of Biloxi's first-half championship. The 23-year-old slugged 18 home runs in 65 games with Biloxi before getting injured, though his production came with a .230 average and 26.1 percent strikeout rate.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Set to face live pitching

Muncy (oblique) is expected to face live pitching Tuesday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Muncy started to take swings off a tee last week, and he will now progress to facing real pitching. The 35-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 15 due to a right oblique strain, so he's eligible to return to action at any point. Manager Dave Roberts said Monday that Muncy could be activated during the team's upcoming road trip, which begins next Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Will begin throwing this week

Arenado (shoulder) will begin a throwing program this week, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Arenado recently resumed hitting and will continue to ramp up his rehab with some throwing later this week. The veteran third baseman is working his way back from a right shoulder strain, and there is no timetable for his return to the Cardinals' active roster. Nolan Gorman will continue to serve as the team's primary option at the hot corner while Arenado is away.

  • Brady House SS | WAS

Nationals' Brady House: Getting Monday off

House is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

House will rest after he started at third base in each of the Nationals' last four contests while going 5-for-15 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs. Paul DeJong will check in for him at the hot corner Monday.

  • Javier Sanoja SS | MIA

Marlins' Javier Sanoja: Taking seat in series opener

Sanoja is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.

Maximo Acosta will get the nod at third base Monday in place of Sanoja, who went 6-for-15 with a home run, a double, a walk, a stolen base, four RBI and three runs while starting in each of the previous four games. Until Miami gets one of Connor Norby (wrist) or Graham Pauley (oblique) back from the injured list, Sanoja looks primed to serve as the Marlins' top option at the hot corner.
