  • Chuckie Robinson: Released by Dodgers

The Dodgers released Robinson on Thursday.

Robinson went through waivers unclaimed after getting designated for assignment Aug. 4. He was outrighted to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Aug. 7, but the team has decided to split with the catcher. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers signed Chadwick Tromp to a minor-league deal Thursday. Robinson was up with the Dodgers prior to the trade deadline before they acquired Hunter Feduccia and Ben Rortvedt.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Exiting lineup Thursday

Kelly is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Kelly will get a routine day of rest after starting at catcher in the first two games of the series. Miguel Amaya will don the catching gear for Thursday's finale.

  • Kyle Teel C | CHW

White Sox's Kyle Teel: Could start rehab by end of August

White Sox manager Will Venable said Thursday that Teel's (ankle) current progress should have him ready to begin a rehab assignment before the end of August, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Teel is a little more than three weeks into a projected 6-to-12 week timetable as he works his way back from a left high-ankle sprain. He's currently running at about 80 percent and is expected to be cleared to hit off the Trejekt machine soon. The six-week mark in Teel's recovery would be Sept. 1, and it seems he has a good shot to be back around that time. However, the young catcher still has several boxes to check before a possible return date comes into focus.

  • Red Sox's Adley Rutschman: Exiting starting lineup

Rutschman is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Toronto.

Rutschman started the previous two days upon being added to Boston's active roster, but he will get a break during Thursday's matinee. Connor Wong will do the catching and bat ninth as the Red Sox try to avoid being swept.

  • Phillies' Rafael Marchan: Cleared for rehab assignment

Marchan (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Marchan has been out for the past three weeks with left knee patellar tendinitis. He shouldn't require more than a game or two on his rehab assignment before returning to the Phillies' active roster.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Out of Toronto lineup

Kirk is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Red Sox.

Kirk started at catcher each of the last two days, so he'll get a breather during Thursday's afternoon tilt. Brandon Valenzuela is behind the dish and batting seventh for the Blue Jays.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Held out of lineup

Wells is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Wells had started each of the previous nine contests, so he's earned a day off for Thursday's matinee. Ali Sanchez will fill in for Wells behind the dish.

  • Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Placed on IL with hip injury

The Pirates placed Rodriguez on the 10-day injured list Thursday with left hip inflammation.

Rodriguez hasn't played in almost a week, and he was unable to show enough progress over that time to avoid a stint on the IL. He will be eligible to return late next week, but it's unclear whether Rodriguez might be ready for activation at that time. Henry Davis and Rafael Flores will handle the catching duties for the Pirates while Rodriguez is shelved.

  • Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Remains out Thursday

Rodriguez (hip) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game in Miami.

Rodriguez hasn't played in nearly a week as he continues to battle left hip discomfort. The Pirates have been viewing the injury as a day-to-day situation, but the longer Rodriguez's absence drags on, the likelier a stint on the injured list becomes. Rafael Flores will start at catcher Thursday.

  • Guardians' Patrick Bailey: On bench again Thursday

Bailey is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Detroit.

It's the second straight day on the bench for Bailey, who is hitless across his last four contests. Austin Hedges will grab another start at catcher in Thursday's rubber match.
