  • Trent Grisham CF | NYY

Yankees' Trent Grisham: Likely out for regular season

Manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Grisham (hamstring) isn't expected to come off the injured list before the end of the regular season but could return for the playoffs, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The veteran outfielder landed on the shelf in early September due to a hamstring strain, and it appears he won't be rejoining the active roster during the final week of the regular season. Grisham has a .703 OPS in 483 plate appearances this year and a .170/.261/.352 slash line in 45 games since the All-Star break, so he may not reclaim a starting role even if he's added to the postseason roster.

Yankees' Spencer Jones: Good to go Sunday

Jones (foot) is starting in center field and batting sixth in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

The 25-year-old was held out of the lineup Saturday due to some soreness in his left foot, but he's ready to rejoin the starting nine after missing just one start. Jones has gone 1-for-19 across his past four games but overall has been productive in September with a .788 OPS in 57 at-bats this month.

Rangers' Brandon Nimmo: Scratched from starting lineup

Texas scratched Nimmo from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays due to an illness.

Nimmo will now have two days to recover from the ailment thanks to Monday's team off day. Alejandro Osuna will replace Nimmo in right field and bat fifth.

  • Kyle Tucker RF | LAD

Dodgers' Kyle Tucker: Not in Sunday's lineup

Tucker (knee/shin) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Giants, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports.

After fouling a ball off his right leg Saturday, Tucker will sit out Sunday's series finale. Teoscar Hernandez will shift over to right field and bat third for the Dodgers.

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Multi-hit effort in defeat

Lee went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in Saturday's 10-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Lee singled in the third inning and hit an RBI double in the fifth, tying the game at 4-4. He recorded his second multi-hit effort in September, batting .177 on the month with eight RBI, four runs scored and a home run in 65 plate appearances. On the year, the 28-year-old is slashing .276/.318/.404 with 65 runs scored, 57 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 10 long balls across 576 plate appearances.

  • Daulton Varsho CF | HOU

Astros' Daulton Varsho: Idle against southpaw

Varsho is out of the lineup for Sunday's matchup with Atlanta.

With Atlanta sending left-hander Martin Perez to the bump, Varsho will ride the pine for Sunday's series finale. Brice Matthews will take over in center field and bat ninth for Houston.

  • Tristan Peters CF | CHW

White Sox's Tristan Peters: Out Sunday

Peters (shoulder/rib) isn't in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Peters will miss his second consecutive game after injuring his left shoulder crashing into the wall Friday. Brenton Doyle will start in center field and bat ninth for the White Sox on Sunday.

  • Carlos Cortes LF | ATH

Athletics' Carlos Cortes: Out of starting nine

Cortes is absent from the lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Guardians.

  • TJ Friedl CF | CIN

Reds' TJ Friedl: Removed from 40-man roster

Cincinnati designated Friedl for assignment Sunday.

After being sent down to Louisville on Saturday, the Reds have jettisoned Friedl. In 91 games with the Reds this season, the 30-year-old slashed just .172/.255/.255 with four homers and 13 RBI in 272 plate appearances. Cincinnati selected the contract of Carson Spiers to take over Friedl's spot on the active and 40-man rosters.
