  • Jarren Duran LF | BOS

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Sitting versus left-hander

Duran is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rays.

Sitting against left-handed starters has become Duran's new normal, and with lefty Ian Seymour on the mound for Tampa Bay on Friday, Boston will go with Roman Anthony, Nate Eaton and Wilyer Abreu from left to right in the outfield. Duran is batting just .159 with a .463 OPS across 47 trips to the plate this month.

  • Jake Mangum CF | PIT

Pirates' Jake Mangum: Out of lineup again Friday

Mangum is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals.

He's now been out of the lineup for two straight contests after starting each of the six games prior to that. Ronny Simon will play right field for the Pirates in the series opener.

  • Angel Martinez LF | CLE

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Sitting again Friday

Martinez (side) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Martinez was injured in Tuesday's game against the White Sox and missed Wednesday's series finale. He'll sit out at least another contest despite Thursday's off day. Steven Kwan is in left field, with Petey Halpin patrolling center.

  • Chase DeLauter RF | CLE

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Returns to lineup Friday

DeLauter (wrist) is starting in right field and batting third Friday against the Athletics, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

DeLauter's sprained right wrist flared back up this week, and he was held out of action Tuesday and Wednesday against the White Sox ahead of Thursday's off day. The 24-year-old is back in action against lefty Mason Barnett for Friday's series opener. DeLauter has just three home runs since the All-Star break but does have 12 doubles, two triples and 23 walks in that span, boosting his OPS to .815 for the season.

  • Cardinals' Everson Pereira: Cleared for rehab games

Pereira (hand) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, going 1-for-3 with an RBI single along with two walks.

It was the first game action in nearly a month for Pereira, who is working his way back from a left hand contusion. It's unclear whether the 25-year-old outfielder will need any more rehab contests, but he's poised to rejoin the Cardinals' active roster before the regular season concludes. Once he does return, Pereira could see playing time versus lefties.

  • Astros' LaMonte Wade: Homers in win

Wade went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Royals.

He took advantage of a rare start Thursday, with Christian Walker getting the day off. Wade extended the Astros' lead to 3-1 in the fifth inning with a 365-foot shot off Seth Lugo, his fourth homer this season and first since Aug. 30. Wade had gone just 2-for-14 in nine games coming into the contest. Overall, he's slashing .212/.316/.364 with 19 RBI 16 runs scored over 136 plate appearances this season.

  • Denzel Clarke CF | ATH

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Swipes two bases Thursday

Clarke went 1-for-2 with two steals and a walk in Thursday's 10-1 loss to the Rays.

Clarke was active on the bases early, swiping second and third base after depositing a single in the third inning. The center fielder has appeared in 10 games since returning from a left hamstring strain, going just 2-for-14 (.143) with no extra-base hits or RBI. Clarke boasts significant speed and strong defensive acumen, but he's struggled mightily to find his footing offensively at the big-league level.

  • Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Goes yard in Thursday's loss

Butler went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 10-1 loss to the Rays.

Butler provided the lone run for the Athletics, crushing a solo homer in the sixth inning. The outfielder has gone yard five times in his past 11 games, though he's hitting just .209 (9-for-43) during that stretch. On the year, Butler is slashing .231/.319/.390 with 17 homers, 59 RBI, 58 runs and 10 stolen bases in 145 contests.

  • Walker Jenkins CF | MIN

Twins' Walker Jenkins: Clubs homer in loss

Jenkins went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Thursday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Angels.

He was the one to force extras, taking Ben Joyce deep in the ninth inning to tie the game at 3-3. Jenkins had gone 0-for-16 over his previous six games. The outfield prospect is still adjusting to the majors -- even with this big game, he's batting just .143 with a .556 OPS, two homers, seven RBI, seven runs scored and a stolen base over his first 17 contests for the Twins.

  • Joshua Lowe LF | LAA

Angels' Josh Lowe: Picks up steal

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a double and a stolen base in Thursday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Twins.

Lowe doubled and swiped a bag in the ninth inning, but the Angels weren't able to manufacture a walk-off win in that frame. After hitting safely in four of his last five games, the outfielder is now batting .212 with a .646 OPS, 10 steals, 12 home runs, 29 RBI, 28 runs scored and nine doubles across 319 plate appearances this season.
