  • Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Goes yard twice Sunday

Butler went 2-for-4 with two homers, four total RBI and a hit-by-pitch in Sunday's 8-7 win over the Mariners.

Butler blasted off twice, driving a solo shot in the first frame and then emerging as the hero with a walk-off two-run homer. Sunday marked the outfielder's first multi-homer effort of the season, with 11 of his 16 long balls coming after the All-Star break. Overall, Butler is slashing .230/.321/.387 with 58 RBI, 57 runs and 10 stolen bases in 142 contests.

  • Steven Kwan LF | CLE

Guardians' Steven Kwan: Three hits, homer in win

Kwan went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, two total RBI and an additional run scored in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Twins.

Kwan led off the game with a solo shot off Joe Ryan, his first of three hits on the day and his third home run this season (his first since Aug. 7). Kwan also extended his hit streak to seven games -- he's gone 12-for-30 (.400) with five extra-base hits in that span. Overall, he's slashing .278/.375/.346 through 587 plate appearances this season with 75 runs scored, 30 RBI and 10 stolen bases.

  • Riley Greene LF | DET

Tigers' Riley Greene: Reaches 20-homer plateau

Greene went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three total RBI in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Rockies.

Greene wasted no time recording his 20th home run of the season, as he went deep in the first inning with a runner on base. The star outfielder has been locked in since returning from the injured list at the beginning of the month with a .378 batting average, 1.217 OPS, four home runs and 17 RBI across 11 games. About the only thing that seems likely to slow Greene down at this point is more frequent rest days due to Detroit's rapidly fading playoff chances.

  • Rays' Victor Mesa: Extends hit streak in rout

Mesa went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, two RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 14-4 win over the Astros.

Mesa was a thorn in the Astros' side from the cleanup spot, falling a homer short of the cycle and scoring each time he reached base. The 25-year-old has hit safely in nine straight games, and he owns a ridiculous 1.300 OPS with seven extra-base hits, eight RBI, 12 runs scored and three steals through 12 September contests. For the season, he's slashing .261/.330/.518 with 13 homers, 30 RBI, 32 runs scored and nine stolen bases across 223 plate appearances.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Back in big leagues

The Rangers recalled Osuna from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.

The 23-year-old spent the past month in the minors but is back with the Rangers ahead of Sunday's series finale in Arizona. Osuna has a .255/.347/.297 slash line with one homer and five steals in 220 big-league plate appearances this season.

  • Turner Hill LF | SF

Giants' Turner Hill: Not in Sunday's lineup

Hill is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Hill started the previous five games and will get a day off after going 1-for-19 with a double and two walks during that stretch. Drew Gilbert, Jonah Cox and Jung Hoo Lee are starting from left to right in the outfield while Scott Bandura makes his MLB debut as the designated hitter.

  • Giants' Scott Bandura: Promoted, making MLB debut

The Giants selected Bandura's contract from Triple-A Sacramento, and he's batting fifth as the designated hitter Sunday against the Padres.

The 27-year-old will get his first look in the majors after posting an .895 OPS with 13 homers and 34 steals in 131 games between the Double-A and Triple-A levels this year. Bandura fills the roster spot vacated by Rafael Devers, who was placed on the 60-day IL on Sunday due to a core muscle injury.

  • Diamondbacks' Ryan Waldschmidt: On bench Sunday

Waldschmidt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Waldschmidt started the first two games of the series and will receive a day off for the finale while in the midst of a 1-for-19 slump. Lars Nootbaar is manning left field Sunday while Gabriel Moreno rests his legs as the designated hitter.

  • Jarren Duran LF | BOS

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: On bench versus lefty

Duran is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

It's the sixth straight absence against left-handed starting pitching for Duran, who hasn't been in the lineup versus a southpaw starter since Aug. 8. The 30-year-old has a .641 OPS against left-handed pitching this season, which is actually better than his .619 OPS versus righties. Despite the offensive struggles, Duran has still started every game against right-handed pitching since the start of July. Roman Anthony is handling left field Sunday for Boston, opening up the DH spot for Jahmai Jones.

  • Joshua Baez LF | STL

Cardinals' Joshua Baez: Out of Sunday's lineup

Baez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Baez started the previous three contests and will receive a day off after going 4-for-12 with three doubles, two RBI and three runs. Bryan Torres, Nathan Church and Jordan Walker will start across the outfield Sunday for St. Louis.
