The Knicks waived Windler to open up a roster spot for the signing of Taj Gibson, who'll presumably play a key depth role in the absence of Mitchell Robinson (ankle). Windler averaged just 1.0 points in 2.3 minutes across his three appearances with the Knicks this season.
