49ers' Obi Melifonwu: Signs with San Francisco

Melifonwu signed a reserve/future contract with the 49ers on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Melifonwu was waived from the Patriots back in April, and he'll now take on safety duties for San Francisco after spending the 2020 season as a free agent. The 26-year-old has not played in an NFL game since 2018, when he posted three solo tackles throughout two games for New England.
