Ayers was waived by the Rams, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

This is a surprising move as it was thought Ayers would be a starter at outside linebacker. The five-year veteran started 11 games for the Rams in 2015, but Los Angeles lets him go, saving themselves $3.3 million in the process. At this point, who be the third linebacker alongside Alec Ogletree and Mark Barron is not known. The options remaining on the roster are Josh Forrest, Bryce Hager, Nic Grigsby and Cory LIttleton.
