The Browns released Osweiler on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Osweiler has traveled quite a road since inking a $72 million deal with the Texans in March of 2016. After starting 14 games last season, during which he tossed 15 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, he was shipped to Cleveland in the offseason along with a 2018 second-round pick, spurring speculation that he'd be released shortly thereafter. Instead, he was given an opportunity to compete with Cody Kessler and second-round pick DeShone Kizer, but Osweiler was eventually beat out by the rookie. Osweiler thus hits the open market in search of a new gig.
