Russell (undisclosed) was waived by the Steelers with an injury designation Sunday, Alan Saunders of PittsburghSportsNow.com reports.
Russell was likely hurt covering a kickoff during Friday's preseason game, according to Saunders. The 26-year-old will revert to IR upon clearing waivers and then miss the 2023 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team.
