Panthers' Sam Franklin: Unavailable against Vikings

Franklin (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.

Despite practicing without limitations to start the week, Franklin is unavailable for Sunday's NFC showdown. His absence hurts Carolina's secondary depth. Myles Hartsfield appears to be the primary backup to starters Juston Burris and Tre Boston. Rookie linebacker Jeremy Chinn figures to get some work at safety in select packages, too.
