Islanders' Stephen Gionta: Paves way for Cizikas' return

Gionta is no longer on the Islanders roster, as he cleared waivers Tuesday and Casey Cizikas (undisclosed) has since returned, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Gionta signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Islanders last Saturday, so he's presumably bound for AHL Bridgeport, the team's top developmental affiliate.
