Maple Leafs' Joffrey Lupul: Fails physical, as expected

As anticipated, Lupul (abdomen) did not pass his physical Thursday, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports.

Lupul was sidelined for the entire 2016-17 campaign due to a sports hernia and will likely remain out this year as well. The Leafs will use long-term injured reserve in order to get some cap relief, and the 33-year-old winger will almost certainly retire when his contract expires after this season.
