Lupul, who missed the entire Maple Leafs campaign with a sports hernia injury, failed a physical at the end of the season, Kristen Shilton of TSN reports.
A versatile but injury-prone winger, it's been widely speculated that Lupul may have played his last game. The Buds have him under contract for one more year at $5.25 million, at which point he'd become an unrestricted free agent. If he does, in fact, hang up his skates for good, Lupul will finish with 420 points (205 goals, 215 assists) in 701 career contests split between the Ducks, Oilers, Flyers and Leafs.
