Rifai will undergo wrist surgery and will be out of action for an undisclosed period, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports Friday.
Rifai was injured during Thursday's preseason game versus Montreal. The 27-year-old defenseman has played two games at the NHL level, both in 2023-24 with the Maple Leafs. Rifai had three goals, 10 assists and 77 PIM across 63 regular-season games with AHL Toronto in 2024-25.
