Asplund inked a one-year, two-way contract with Florida on Wednesday.
Asplund had two goals and eight points in 46 games between Buffalo and Nashville last season. The 25-year-old might be able to earn a roster spot with the Panthers out of training camp, but if he does, Asplund will probably be a healthy scratch fairly often.
