Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), the No. 1 team in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings, returns to action against Liberty (Henderson, Nev.) on Friday at the 2021 Polynesian Football Classic. The 7:30 p.m. kickoff is the second of a three-game event for the 2021 Polynesian Football Classic at Bishop Gorman High School.
The Monarchs opened the season with a 45-3 win in Texas against Duncanville and look to improve to 2-0 taking on the defending 4A state champs who have won 13 games in a row. The Patriots have dropped seven consecutive out-of-state games with the last win coming in 2018 against Saguaro (Scottsdale, Ariz.) while the Monarchs are 9-0 in out-of-state matchups during the MaxPreps era. ...
