After a 10 month wait, the defending Indiana 4A state champion and preseason No. 1 team in the MaxPreps national softball rankings began its season.
The Roncalli (Indianapolis) offense showed no sign of rust as the team combined to hit 10 home runs, six doubles and scored 26 runs in its first two games. Mount St. Joseph commit Courtney Keller hit three bombs to start her senior season.
While Indiana teams are just getting going, states like Texas are approaching 30 games played and the regular season winding down. The Lone Star State has four of the Top 10 teams in this week's poll. ...
