The 2022 Major League Baseball season is here, as things get underway with a seven-game Opening Day slate on Thursday. It's a tad bit late, but we still get the 162-game treatment before the expanded playoffs, so no one will be left desperate for a baseball fix come November.

As is tradition around these parts just before any new season begins, the CBS Sports MLB team is putting ourselves out there with predictions on the major awards. That is, we'll predict, by league, the four BBWAA awards (MVP, Cy Young, Manager of the Year, Rookie of the Year) plus Comeback Player of the Year.

Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. was a popular AL MVP pick, and that shouldn't be a shock. Something that should also catch the eye is the pedigree possessed by the Comeback Player candidates, such as Mike Trout, Justin Verlander and Ronald Acuña Jr.

Let's get to the picks.
