Adam Wainwright to throw side session Wednesday

Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright is scheduled to throw a side session Wednesday to test his injured elbow, MLB.com reports.

Wainwright is expected to be able to make his next scheduled start Saturday after missing Monday's start with elbow inflammation, but the team will know more about his status once he gets in his work Wednesday. Wainwright owns a 2.15 ERA and 91:21 K:BB ratio in 100 1/3 innings.
