After working at the position over the summer and during camp, Brian Dozier will be the starting second baseman for the Twins heading into opening day.
Dozier has made some solid progress defensively at the position and is batting .276 with two homers, eight RBI and two stolen bases through 19 Grapefruit League games.
“At second base, he’s doing great,” manager Ron Gardenhire told the Star Tribune on Tuesday. “And when he’s hitting, he’s a lot better right now. His swing is looking really nice now. He’s not dragging his bat early. He was dragging it on fly balls that were going up in the air. So he’s doing fine. Playing the game, he’s more relaxed. He’s looking more confident.”
