Yankees pitcher David Phelps was removed from Sunday's start against the Red Sox after just two innings due to right elbow inflammation, the team announced.

Phelps gave up five earned runs on six hits and two walks, including one home run, but he didn't factor into the decision in the high-scoring game. He owns a 4.24 ERA and 89:40 K:BB ratio in 108 1/3 innings. Phelps will be re-evaluated in New York during the upcoming week.
