Hanley Ramirez sits Wednesday, could be available Friday

Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez was out of the lineup for the seventh straight game Wednesday due to a left hamstring injury, but the team remains hopeful he will be available for Friday's series opener against the Pirates.

"I think Hanley's getting really close," manager Don Mattingly told MLB.com. "It would be nice by Friday if I had him in some capacity, even if it was to pinch-hit. It's got to be safe for him to be able to run and be under control so I can use him."

Ramirez has made just two starts and three pinch-hit appearances since coming off the disabled list June 4.
