LOOK: Mets put bandage on Citi Field apple after Travis d'Arnaud's HR
The Mets put a bandage on their center field apple after Travis d'Arnaud hit it with a home run in Game 1 of the NLCS.
The Mets beat the Cubs in Game 1 of the NLCS on Saturday night thanks mostly to the dominance of Matt Harvey (NYM 4, CHC 2). Game 2 is Sunday night at 8pm ET. You can watch on TBS.
The Mets got an important insurance run from catcher Travis d'Arnaud in Game 1. He hit a long solo home run in the sixth inning to stretch the lead to 3-1. d'Arnaud managed to hit the ball off the apple in center field at Citi Field. Check it out:
That was quite a blast. Daniel Murphy, who has called Citi Field his home ballpark since it opened in 2009, told reporters after Game 1 that he's never seen a ball hit off the apple. That's an impressive shot, especially through the cold October night.
Prior to Game 2 Sunday, the Mets showed a little sense of humor and put a bandage on the apple. Here's a photo via Anthony DiComo of MLB.com:

That's outstanding. Great work by the Mets.
So what's cooler, the bandage on the apple, or Kyle Schwarber's home run ball sitting atop the Wrigley Field video board?
