Matt Cain scratched Tuesday with cut finger

Giants pitcher Matt Cain was scratched from Tuesday's scheduled start against the Padres after cutting his right index finger, the team announced.

Yusmeiro Petit is making Tuesday's start in place of Cain, who won't need stitches. If the team keeps him on regular rest, Cain could make his next start Monday against the Pirates.
