Matt Wieters gets some work at first base during batting practice

Orioles catcher Matt Wieters is not expected to catch until the discomfort in his right elbow subsides, MASN Sports reports on Thursday.

Wieters will serve as a designated hitter on Thursday, but took grounders at first base during pregame batting practice, giving manager Buck Showalter another option in the near future. He has played just one game at first base since joining the majors in 2009.
