Reports: Mets agree to terms with reliever Antonio Bastardo
The 30-year-old lefty pitched for the Pirates in 2015.

The Mets have agreed to terms with free-agent lefty reliever Antonio Bastardo, reports Jon Heyman. A source tells Robert Murray that the deal is for $12 million over two years.
Bastardo, 30, is coming off a 2015 season with the Pirates in which he pitched to a 2.98 ERA and 2.46 K/BB ratio in 57 1/3 innings. Across parts of seven big-league seasons, he has logged an ERA+ of 109. For his career, he has held left-handed hitters to a line of .178/.277/.319 while striking out 31.4 percent and walking 11.4 percent of same. He relies primarily on a four-seam fastball and slider.
In New York, Bastardo figures to become the first lefty out of the pen and also replace the innings of Alex Torres, who recently signed a minor-league deal with the Braves. Jerry Blevins and Sean Gilmartin also figure to make the Mets' roster as left-handed bullpen options.
