Will Middlebrooks placed on 15-day DL with fractured finger

The Red Sox have placed third baseman Will Middlebrooks on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured finger, WEEI reports Saturday.

Middlebrooks took a line drive off his right index finger Friday night against the Tigers. He will be in a splint for 5-7 days before he is re-evaluated. He has also spent some time on the DL this season because of a calf injury. In 21 appearances, Middlebrooks is hitting .197 with two homers and nine RBI in 71 at-bats.
