Michael Baron@michaelgbaron5M agoPer @Feinsand - the #Mets and Drew Smith agreed to a one-year contract, with an option for 2026. He had Tommy John/Brace surgery mid last year, so he's likely missing most if not all of 2025. But, he can continue his rehab under NYM's supervision, and its a good fit.

Mike Puma@NYPost_Mets23H agoMets are also going to take a look at Nick Madrigal at shortstop, among other positions this spring. Madrigal has never played SS in the big leagues, but the Mets aside from Luisangel Acuna don't have a real backup SS option to start the season.

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron23H agoI personally believe second base is going to be a very fluid situation for the #Mets heading into Opening Day and perhaps beyond. They have a lot of options, its a new chance for Brett Baty too.

Mike Puma@NYPost_Mets23H agoMets are also going to take it slow with A.J. Minter, who is returning from hip surgery. He won't throw his first bullpen until late in February, according to Carlos Mendoza.

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron23H agoFor all of those who were saying "Ronny Mauricio can play third base," he isn't going to sniff a game until at least mid-March, per Carlos Mendoza. He is a long way off. #Mets
