  • Giants' Jason Vosler: Recalled and starting Friday

Vosler was recalled by the Giants on Friday and will bat seventh and play third base against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. How long Vosler will remain in the majors is unclear, as he was called up to replace starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani (ankle), so it's possible he returns to the minors when the Giants need another starter. Vosler has produced when called upon this season, however, hitting .294/.362/.569 in 17 games. He'll have a good case to stick around if he keeps hitting like that.

Vosler went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Marlins. With Evan Longoria still dealing with lingering shoulder soreness, Vosler will make a fifth straight start at third base in Sunday's road trip finale in Miami. He's posted a .298/.370/.596 slash line with eight RBI, eight runs scored and a pair of doubles through 54 plate appearances this year.

  • Giants' Jason Vosler: Back up with big club

The Giants recalled Vosler from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday. He'll start at third base and bat ninth in the Giants' series finale in Philadelphia, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle. Vosler will enter the starting nine as a replacement for Evan Longoria, who is on the bench Wednesday after being removed from Tuesday's win with right shoulder soreness. Assuming the issue is a day-to-day concern rather than something that forces Longoria to the injured list, Vosler likely won't be in store for a long-term look in an everyday role at the hot corner.

Vosler was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. The Giants recalled Vosler from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Vosler missed out on an Opening Day roster spot but will join the team less than two weeks later.
