  • Giants' Nick Swiney: Makes Triple-A debut

Swiney recorded one strikeout in two scoreless frames in his first appearance for Triple-A Sacramento on May 13.

All seven of Swiney's appearances have come out of the bullpen this season after 20 of his 21 appearances in 2022 came as a starter. However, he has gone two-plus innings in six of his seven appearances and has a 1.02 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 19 strikeouts in 17.2 total innings across Double-A and Triple-A. Swiney appears to be prepping for a multi-inning relief role in the majors.

  • Giants' Nick Swiney: Cleared to return from concussion

Low-A San Jose reinstated Swiney (concussion) from the 7-day injured list Sunday.

On the shelf since mid-May with a concussion, Swiney was cleared to rejoin the San Jose rotation after making five rehab appearances in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The 22-year-old was a second-round pick of the Giants in 2020 and is considered one of the higher-upside arms in the lower levels of the organization's farm system.

  • Giants' Nick Swiney: Progressing from concussion

Swiney (concussion) recently resumed throwing live batting practice sessions at the Giants' spring training facility and is expected to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League in the coming weeks, freelance baseball journalist Marc Delucchi reports.

The 2020 second-round pick made only one appearance for Low-A San Jose before being placed on the injured list in May due to what was apparently a severe concussion. Swiney appears to have finally turned a corner in his recovery, but because of the long layoff, he'll have to go through a de facto spring training while getting built back up from starting duty. Assuming he avoids any further setbacks, Swiney could be ready to rejoin San Jose at some point in August.

  • Giants' Nick Swiney: Out with concussion

Swiney hasn't pitched for Low-A San Jose since May 7 due to a concussion, Joe Ritzo, broadcaster of the San Jose Giants, reports.

He threw off a mound on May 23, but has yet to return to game action. Swiney struck out six and allowed three baserunners in four scoreless innings in his lone appearance this season.
