  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Dispatched to minors

The Athletics optioned Bride to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday. While seeing time at three infield spots (third base, second base and first base) as a rookie in 2022, Bride slashed an unremarkable .204/.301/.247 across 187 plate appearances with Oakland. Though high walk rates and low strikeout rates have been standard for Bride throughout his career, he may need to tap into more power or quality contact if he's to emerge as anything more than a depth or short-side platoon player at the big-league level. The 27-year-old will continue to hone his craft in Las Vegas but should be on the short list for a call-up whenever the Athletics might need a right-handed-hitting infield bat.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Remains out of lineup

Bride isn't starting Wednesday against the Angels. Bride has hit .204 with a homer, 17 runs, six RBI and a stolen base over 58 major-league games this year and will remain on the bench for a third consecutive matchup to close out the regular season. Chad Pinder will step in at the hot corner and bat sixth.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Retreats to bench

Bride isn't starting Monday against the Angels. Bride went 1-for-4 with two runs, a walk and two strikeouts Sunday but will take a seat for the second time in the last three games. Ernie Clement is starting at the hot corner and batting ninth.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Scores twice in big win

Bride went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs in a win over the Mariners on Sunday. Filling the DH role, Bride joined the Athletics' offensive explosion with his couple of trips on the basepaths. The rookie, who saw very sparse playing time throughout September, had been mired in an 0-for-17 slump that had encompassed his last 10 games prior to Sunday. Bride's season slash line sits at .206/.304/.250 across 185 plate appearances, but he has displayed some encouraging plate discipline in the form of a 10.3 percent walk rate and modest 17.3 percent strikeout rate.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Losing out on playing time

Bride is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles. Bride is sitting against a right-handed pitcher (Spenser Watkins) for the third time in four games and appears to have lost hold of the everyday role at second base. Tony Kemp will take over at second base in Bride's stead, opening up a spot in the corner outfield for recent Triple-A Las Vegas call-up Cody Thomas, who looks to be the main beneficiary of Bride's role being decreased.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Not in Saturday's lineup

Bride will sit Saturday against the Orioles. Bride finds himself on the bench for the second time in three games, though that follows a stretch in which he started six out of seven contests. He hasn't hit the ball with much authority through his first 40 major-league games, slashing .231/.318/.285 with a 1.9 percent barrel rate. Tony Kemp will handle second base Saturday.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Hits bench Thursday

Bride is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals. Tony Kemp will check in at second base while Bride takes a seat after drawing starts at the position in six of the past seven contests. Since coming off the injured list July 25, Bride has posted a meager .639 OPS over 27 games, but the Athletics don't appear to have a viable threat to challenge him for an everyday role in the infield.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: On base thrice in win

Bride went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run in a win over the Nationals on Tuesday. The rookie made some noise out of the No. 7 spot in the order, posting his first multi-hit effort since Aug. 12 in the process. Bride has put together a serviceable stretch at the plate of late, cobbling together a .250 average, .764 OPS and 8.6 percent walk rate over his last 10 games.

Bride is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees. Bride started the past four games and will head to the bench after going 2-for-12 with a solo home run and five strikeouts. Sheldon Neuse will take over at the keystone Sunday for Oakland.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Clubs first homer

Bride went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and three strikeouts in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees. Bride got the Athletics on the board in the seventh inning with a solo shot, his first big-league homer. It came in his 36th game with Oakland, and it was just his fourth extra-base hit in 117 at-bats. It wasn't all positive for the infielder, as he also posted his first three-strikeout game, though facing Yankees ace Gerrit Cole didn't help his cause there. For the season, Bride is slashing .222/.308/.274 with six RBI, 10 runs scored and a stolen base, though he should retain fairly regular playing time for a team that's nowhere near contention.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Takes seat Thursday

Bride is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers. Sheldon Neuse will pick up a start in the infield in place of Bride, who went 2-for-12 with three walks and two RBI while cracking the lineup in each of the past four games at either second base or first base. With Seth Brown seeing more time in the outfield of late with Ramon Laureano (oblique) on the injured list and with veterans Jed Lowrie, Stephen Piscotty and Elvis Andrus having recently been released, Bride should have a fairly clear path to a near-everyday role the rest of the way.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Not in Saturday's lineup

Bride will not start Saturday against the Astros, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Bride has made plenty of contact through his first 90 MLB plate appearances, striking out just 15.6 percent of the time, but he's struggled to hit the ball with much authority. A 1.4 percent barrel rate has led to zero home runs and just three extra-base hits, and he's slashing just .229/.289/.265. Nick Allen will start at second base Saturday.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Pair of doubles in loss

Bride went 2-for-3 with an RBI double, another two-bagger, a walk and a run in a loss to the Astros on Friday. Bride's productive night marked the fifth time he'd hit safely in the last six games, and it featured his first two extra-base hits since he laced a double against the Royals back on June 18 for his first such knock in the majors. The rookie seems to be hitting his stride at the plate somewhat at the big-league level, as he now carries a .258 average and .343 on-base percentage over his last nine games, a span during which he's generated an acceptable 20.0 percent strikeout rate coupled with a solid 11.4 percent walk rate.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: On base thrice in win

Bride went 1-for-2 with two walks in a win over the Angels on Thursday. The rookie has now hit safely in four of the six starts he's drawn coming out of the All-Star break, although all five knocks he's garnered during that period have been singles. Bride has gotten aboard in eight of 25 plate appearances during that stretch, however, an encouraging sample that may indicate he's starting to get a better grasp of big-league arms.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Riding pine Saturday

Bride isn't starting Saturday's game against the White Sox. Bride started the last three games and went 2-for-11 with two runs, a steal and four strikeouts. Seth Brown is shifting to first base while Nick Allen starts at the keystone Saturday.

  • Athletics' Jonah Bride: Swipes first bag

Bride went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run in a win over the Astros on Wednesday. Two games into his return from the injured list, Bride stole his first base of the season and contributed a second consecutive 1-for-3, one-run effort in the process. The rookie never recorded more than three stolen bases at any minor-league stop, however, so fantasy managers should keep expectations tempered in that regard.
