  • White Sox's Corey Julks: Sent to minors

The White Sox optioned Julks to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday. He'll give up his spot on the 28-man active roster to third baseman Yoan Moncada (adductor), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list. Since being acquired from the Astros in mid-May and reporting to Chicago, Julks produced a .581 OPS with three home runs and five stolen bases over 189 plate appearances with the White Sox. He mostly served as a short-side platoon player in the White Sox outfield, but Julks should get the chance to play on an everyday basis at Charlotte.

  • White Sox's Corey Julks: Swipes bag in loss

Julks went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Cubs. Julks remains in a reserve role, leading to little playing time. He's played in 16 games since the start of July, going 4-for-21 with two steals and one RBI in that span. The outfielder is slashing .231/.301/.364 with three home runs, five steals, eight RBI, 11 runs scored and seven doubles over 133 plate appearances. Julks is likely to see most of his playing time in right field versus left-handed pitchers, with Gavin Sheets or Dominic Fletcher handling the strong side of the platoon.

  • White Sox's Corey Julks: Settling back into reserve role

Julks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros. Julks is on the bench after he started in each of the White Sox's last three games, with the latter two coming against left-handed pitchers. Though he's served as a near-everyday player for much of his time with the White Sox since getting called up from Triple-A Charlotte on May 17, Julks appears set to lose out on regularly playing time moving forward following the recent returns of Andrew Benintendi and Tommy Pham from the injured list.

  • White Sox's Corey Julks: Idle Thursday

Julks isn't in the White Sox's lineup for Thursday's game against Seattle. Julks will take a seat Thursday after recording just one hit in 13 at-bats through the first three games of the series. His absence will allow Oscar Colas to start in right field and bat seventh.

  • White Sox's Corey Julks: Clubs leadoff homer

Julks went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 7-6 loss to the Cubs. Julks gave the White Sox a hot start, homering on Jameson Taillon's first pitch of the game. During his eight-game hitting streak, Julks has gone 11-for-33 (.333) with four extra-base hits and three RBI. It looks like the 28-year-old outfielder could get a look at leadoff while Tommy Pham (ankle) is out, as that's where Julks has batted in the last two games -- against lefty Shota Imanaga on Tuesday and the right-handed Taillon on Wednesday. Julks has a .315/.393/.519 slash line with two homers, six RBI, six runs scored and two stolen bases over 61 plate appearances.

  • White Sox's Corey Julks: Productive start to time with Sox

Julks went 1-for-3 with two RBI, a walk and a stolen base Tuesday against the Blue Jays. Julks was dealt to the White Sox on May 15 after being designated for assignment by the Astros and was recalled to the big-league club two days later. He's made three starts in five games since and gone 4-for-11 with a run scored, three RBI and two stolen bases. Julks could see a more consistent role moving forward if Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) is forced to miss time.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Sent down to minors

The Astros optioned Julks to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday. Julks spent the bulk of the 2023 season in the majors but came up short for an Opening Day roster spot this year. The 28-year-old will play corner outfield with Sugar Land and hope to get another shot with the big club sooner rather than later.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Sent back to Triple-A

Houston optioned Julks to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday. This is the corresponding 26-man roster move for Michael Brantley (shoulder) as he returns from the 60-day injured list. Julks has batted just .245/.297/.352 through his first 323 major-league plate appearances in 2023.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Back in big leagues

Julks was called up by the Astros on Saturday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. Julks will take the spot that had belonged to Grae Kessinger, who landed on the injured list due to health and safety protocols. Julks provided a bit of fantasy value as a 27-year-old rookie prior to his demotion in early August with his 15 steals, but his .245/.299/.353 slash line (81 wRC+) wasn't good enough to keep him in a regular role.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Demoted to minors amid slump

Julks was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. Julks has made more starts in left field than any other Astro this season, but he had been hitless across his last 36 at-bats and hadn't homered since June 18, which has resulted in a trip back to the minors. Chas McCormick should see most of the action in left moving forward, with Jake Meyers handling center.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Sits amid deep slump

Julks is not in the lineup Thursday against the Yankees. Julks recorded a walk in the Astros' win over Cleveland on Wednesday, but he's gone hitless in his last 41 plate appearances dating back to mid-July. Chas McCormick will play left field Thursday as Jake Meyers patrols center field.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Hits bench Monday

Julks is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers. Julks started each of Houston's last six games, going just 1-for-21 with three walks against five strikeouts during that stretch. Though he's been able to hold down a near-everyday role for a large chunk of the season, Julks could be in danger of seeing his playing time take a hit later this week, when Yordan Alvarez (oblique) is likely to return from the 10-day injured list.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Showing ability to get on base

Julks went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base Monday against the Rangers. Julks has gotten on base multiple times in six of his last 11 starts, maintaining an impressive .413 on-base percentage. He's shown improved patience, as he's drawn six free passes in that span after working only nine walks across his first 53 games of the campaign. Julks is still getting on base at a .308 clip across 237 plate appearances, though he has chipped in 13 stolen bases and six home runs.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Sitting Friday

Julks is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Rangers. Julks will head to the bench after he went 4-for-9 with an RBI and a run scored while starting two games during the team's series with St. Louis. Chas McCormick will slide over to left field while Jake Meyers enters the lineup in center field and bats eighth in the series opener versus Texas.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Out against Cardinals

Julks is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's bout against the Cardinals, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Julks has picked up hits in six of his last seven games including a double against the Cardinals on Tuesday, but he'll get a day of rest Wednesday. Bligh Madris will hit seventh and line up in left field in Julks' absence.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Sticking in lineup

Julks went 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base Wednesday against the Mets. Julks started in left field for the fourth time in the last five games, while Jake Meyers and Chas McCormick continue to split time between center and left field. Julks has taken advantage of that opportunity by tallying four hits across 12 at-bats to go along with a homer, three RBI and six runs scored. Even with Yordan Alvarez (oblique) sidelined, the Astros have a crunch for playing time in the outfield, so Julks will need to continue to perform well to keep consistent at-bats.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Swipes two bags in win

Julks went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run and two stolen bases in a 6-4 victory versus the Guardians on Saturday. Julks made the most of his two times reaching base, swiping second base in each instance. He's up to 10 thefts on the season, making him one of 31 major-leaguers to reach that mark thus far. The stolen base total gives Julks some fantasy appeal, and he's added some modest production in other areas with a .262/.286/.399 slash line, five homers, 23 RBI and 22 runs over 48 games.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Not in lineup Thursday

Julks is not in the lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays. Chas McCormick, Jake Meyers and Kyle Tucker will start across the outfield for the Astros. Julks has had a couple of strong games in June but carries an overall .681 OPS through his first 166 major-league plate appearances.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Plates three in win

Julks went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 5-2 win over the Athletics. This was Julks' second three-RBI effort in his last three contests after he had knocked in just two runs over his first 11 games in May. The outfielder also has multiple hits in three of his last eight contests. Julks is slashing .270/.285/.389 with three home runs, 16 RBI, 16 runs scored and six steals in eight attempts over 35 contests. He remains in the mix for playing time in left field and at designated hitter.

  • Astros' Corey Julks: Hits bench again Wednesday

Julks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs. Julks is on the bench for the third time in four games and looks to be losing some traction as a mainstay in the Houston lineup following Chas McCormick's recent return from the injured list. McCormick will stick in the starting nine for the fourth game in a row and appears to be a more stable part of the lineup than Julks and Jake Meyers while the three players vie for two spots in Houston's regular outfield. Mauricio Dubon could factor into the mix in the outfield once second baseman Jose Altuve (thumb) likely returns from the injured list over the weekend, potentially leaving both Julks and Meyers on the outside looking in for playing time.
