  Final: Padres 4, Cardinals 2 Manny Machado is holding off on elbow surgery at least until the Padres are mathematically eliminated. Essentially, he stuck around for a night like this one. Machado homered twice, including a go-ahead blast in the 8th. SD has won 8 straight.

  The Padres went to Luis García for the 8th with a one-run lead, indicating that Josh Hader probably isn't available. Hader pitched 3 straight but none more than 13 pitches, and the team was off yesterday. Anyway, García surrendered the lead, and the winning streak is in jeopardy.
