Georges St-Pierre set to fight middleweight champion Michael Bisping in UFC return
GSP is returning to the octagon with an immediate title shot at a date to be announced
Georges St-Pierre is back and ready to fight for the title. The former welterweight champ is set to move up to 185 pounds and challenge middleweight champ Michael Bisping for his belt, UFC president Dana White announced on Wednesday.
The date and venue are still to be determined.
St-Pierre, who gave up his 170-pound title after suffering a knee injury three years ago, has not stepped in the octagon since 2013. He is the longest reigning welterweight champ in UFC history, defending his title nine times. He has never fought at 185 pounds.
Bisping, meanwhile, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Dan Henderson at UFC 204 in England and has been inactive since, needing a minor knee surgery in January. He said he would be out of action until at least May.
