Kimbo Slice may be gone, but his legacy lives on. Kevin Ferguson, better known as Slice, died early this year of complications from heart failure. But his son, Kevin Ferguson Jr., is ready to carry the family name when he makes his professional MMA debut at Bellator 160 on Aug. 26, according to the Associated Press.

"I won't say I adjusted well or it didn't bother me, but I was talking to him a few days before, so I understood what was going on," Ferguson said per the report. "It was more of a shock to the world, put it like that. It was still a very big tragedy, but I got through it. I'm still getting through it. I won't say I'm over it, but I'm working on it, I guess."

Ferguson has had one amateur fight in his MMA career, earlier this year as a part of Warrior Nation Xtreme Fighters Alliance. He stopped his opponent as quickly as his dad used to in the backyards, needing just 83 seconds to earn the win.

Ferguson said he knew this is what he wanted to do from a young age.

"I was always around the fight business and everything, so I saw it and I understood what was going on," Ferguson said. "I just knew without a doubt that one day, this was what I wanted to do."

Bellator 160 will take place on Aug. 26 in Anaheim, California. Ferguson's opponent for the fight is still to be determined.
