UFC Fight Night: Dustin Poirier vs. Dan Hooker headlines June 27 card in Las Vegas
Poirier returns for the first time since losing in his shot at the undisputed lightweight championship

With the ability to hold events at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas after the Nevada State Athletic Commission approved the return of combat sports, the UFC continues to put together fight cards for the summer months. On Friday, the promotion announced the card for UFC on ESPN 12 on June 27, and it features a huge lightweight main event between Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker. Poirier and Hooker were originally scheduled to fight on May 16 in San Diego before the coronavirus pandemic forced the event to be canceled.
Poirier will be making his first trip to the Octagon since losing in his bid to claim the undisputed championship against Khabib Nurmagomedov last September. Poirier won the interim belt with a dominant win over then-featherweight champion Max Holloway in April 2019. The loss to Nurmagomedov snapped a five-fight winning streak for Poirier.
Hooker is on a three-fight winning streak that most recently saw him win a thrilling war with Paul Felder by split decision in February. He has a 7-1 record since 2017, the lone loss coming against Edson Barboza. A win over Poirier would thrust him into a crowded title picture within the 155-pound division.
The full card for the event was announced by UFC president Dana White on Friday, and you can view the entire June 27 slate below.
