F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo to wear Dale Earnhardt-themed helmet at US Grand Prix
Ricciardo is paying homage to his racing idol

Although he's a native of Western Australia, Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo is right at home this week as the series makes its annual trip to the United States. Ricciardo has been fully basking in the glory of the upcoming US Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas, an experience which will include an impressive tribute to his racing idol.
Daniel Ricciardo will hear a helmet painted in the colors of NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt's iconic black and silver No. 3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet at the US Grand Prix. The helmet includes a McLaren-themed derivative of the old GM Goodwrench logo, and also includes Earnhardt's No. 3 and Ricciardo's nickname -- "The Honey Badger" -- in the style of Earnhardt's old Intimidator branding.
Ricciardo, who drives for McLaren-Mercedes in F1, drives the No. 3 as a homage to Earnhardt.

Ricciardo is making the most of this moment. He arrived at Circuit of the Americas on Thursday in full cowboy gear, and also gave an entire interview in a southern accent.
Best of all, Ricciardo will get to drive one of Earnhardt's classic cars prior to Sunday's Grand Prix, as he'll take a joyride in Earnhardt's 1984 No. 3 Wrangler Chevrolet. Ricciardo getting to drive one of Earnhardt's cars was a reward from McLaren boss Zak Brown, who owns Earnhardt's 1984 car and allowed Ricciardo to drive it after he earned his first podium for the team earlier this year.
