Marcin Gortat wins player of the week, mistakenly thinks he got traded
Wizards center Marcin Gortat was asleep when he won player of the week, so he thought all his messages were about a trade.
Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat was named player of the week in the Eastern Conference on Monday, as he averaged 21.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in his team's three wins this past week. He woke up from an afternoon nap unaware of this, saw a bunch of text messages waiting for him and thought that meant he'd been traded:
Omg!! When i woke up and I checked my phone I had about 20 messages!! I though I was traded ?????.... Gzzzzzz #dcrising

This month, Gortat has averaged 17 points and 10.4 rebounds while shooting 57.2 percent, helping the Wizards get back to .500 after an inconsistent start to the season and a four-game losing streak at the end of November. The most impressive part of the past week? He outplayed DeMarcus Cousins, Marc Gasol and Brook Lopez. If Gortat had indeed been moved, it would have been rather curious timing.
