Move aside, Magic Johnson. Steve Nash is taking your spot.

No, not as the greatest Laker point guard ever. Just as No. 4 all-time in NBA history in assists.

On a lob to Dwight Howard, Nash picked up his 10,141st assist to tie him with Johnson and then passed him on a dump-down to Antawn Jamison for his 10,142nd.

Of note: This was Nash's 1,183rd career game. Johnson played in 903.

Third all-time is Mark Jackson (10,334), second is Jason Kidd (12,006 and counting) and first is John Stockton (15,806).

Nash, 39, could certainly make a run at Jackson for third all-time. But catching Kidd would probably take another three or four seasons, something that Nash is unlikely to play.

Nash, a two-time MVP with the Suns, was traded to the Lakers in the offseason. For the season, he's averaging 11.9 points and 7.4 assists.
